President Trump had a massive day in court in two cases. I’d love to talk about something other than Trump being in court, but that’s where we are right now in this country, with the far Left doing anything it can to prosecute him. First, the Georgia Court of Appeals agreed to hear arguments for why Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis should be disqualified from President Trump’s Georgia election interference case. If you remember, Judge McAfee declined to dismiss DA Willis after noting that an “odor of mendacity” – lying – permeated Willis’ testimony regarding her relationship with Special Prosecutor Nathan Wade. So Trump appealed, arguing that Willis’ misconduct had tainted the case. The appeals court agreed with the arguments we made in our amicus brief that this case and the level of impropriety involved deserved a second look. In agreeing to hear Trump’s appeal, the Georgia Court of Appeals is acknowledging that Trump’s appeal has some merit – it wouldn’t waste its time otherwise. Of course, this doesn’t mean the judges will dismiss Willis, but they will listen to the arguments from Trump’s legal team. Also, this delay increases the potential that this trial will not occur before the 2024 presidential election. Due to the latest development, the ACLJ is also preparing to file a second amicus brief – led by our own former Georgia prosecutor – to disqualify DA Willis and protect the integrity of our judicial system. We will be filing this brief next month. In President Trump’s classified documents case, Judge Aileen Cannon postponed the trial indefinitely after Rep. Jim Jordan (OH-4) launched an investigation into Special Counsel Jack Smith’s admission of evidence tampering. The trial had been originally scheduled for May 20. And now no new trial date has been set for the near future after Judge Cannon said the court is dealing with the “myriad and interconnected pre-trial” concerns. The far Left is unhappy about this development because this case also will likely not happen before November. As we reported yesterday, Rep. Jordan is launching an investigation after Special Counsel Smith ironically mishandled the same classified documents that he accused Trump of mishandling. Such a revelation clearly raises several questions in the case against the former President. Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee Rep. Jim Jordan (OH-4) is launching an investigation after Special Counsel Jack Smith admitted to evidence tampering in President Donald Trump’s classified documents case. Rep. Jordan made the announcement to Sean Hannity on Fox News. Jordan also pointed out the irony of Smith’s mishandling of the very documents he is accusing President Trump of mishandling. Fox News reports on the revelation that the classified documents had been tampered with: "Prosecutors admitted in a court filing on Friday that “there are some boxes where the order of items within that box is not the same as in the associated scans.” The prosecutors had previously told the court that the documents were “in their original, intact form as seized.” “The Government acknowledges that this is inconsistent with what Government counsel previously understood and represented to the Court,” a footnote in the filing reads. The filing comes after one of Trump’s co-defendants in the case asked for a delay as lawyers were having trouble figuring out the origin of some of the documents in the evidence boxes." Jim Jordan sent a letter yesterday to the DOJ, informing them of the forthcoming investigation. He requested that all information related to the mishandling of the classified documents be turned in to the House Judiciary Committee by May 20. Based on what the prosecutors admitted in their Friday court filing, it sure looks like evidence tampering took place with the classified documents that the FBI seized from Mar-a-Lago last summer. And President Trump didn’t hold back in lambasting Smith: “ARREST DERANGED JACK SMITH. HE IS A CRIMINAL!” Smith’s mishandling is also especially egregious because Jordan’s letter quotes legal experts who believe Smith’s latest filing also “essentially is an admission of witness tampering.” Rep. Jordan recounts how Smith attempted to tamper with a witness by offering a lawyer a judgeship if the lawyer got a witness to cooperate. All this begs the question: Should Smith charge himself with mishandling classified documents? Also, don’t forget Special Counsel Robert Hur’s dismissing the charges of classified documents against President Biden because he didn’t believe the President was fit to stand trial. With all this chaos encircling the classified documents and since Smith has basically condemned himself, Attorney General Merrick Garland should do the right thing and order Smith to drop the charges. ACLJ Senior Counsel and Director of Policy Harry Hutchison commented on the possibility of Trump’s classified documents case being dismissed as a result of the evidence tampering: "I think that’s possible certainly with respect to some of the charges, if not all of the charges. And I think it’s also imperative to remember how differently the DOJ under Jack Smith is handling the case against Donald Trump and how differently the Special Counsel investigating Joe Biden handled [the] classified documents with respect to the Biden affair. Remember, Joe Biden kept basically classified documents in a garage with his Corvette. . . . And Joe Biden has admitted that he shared these classified documents with an individual who was not vetted or did not have permission to review those documents. Why? Because Joe Biden had an $8 million contract to write a book. So one of the things that I think the American people can clearly see . . . [is] a double standard." A bombshell Politico report reveals who’s funding the widespread anti-Israel protests on college campuses: powerful Leftist donors, including major funders of President Joe Biden’s 2024 presidential election campaign. Unsurprisingly, George Soros is one of the donors of the pro-Palestinian protesters. This news also comes on the heels of Columbia University announcing it is canceling graduation ceremonies because of the violent protests. The way this works is you gotta follow the money, and it’s not always right on the surface or linear. But Politico uncovered that some heavy hitters include Soros, the Pritzkers, and the Gates, far-Left donors who gave to the Tides Foundation – a foundation whose website’s tagline is “Shifting Power. Advancing Social Justice.” After receiving the funds from these far-Left donors, the Tides Foundation dispersed the money to nonprofit organizations like IfNotNow and Jewish Voice for Peace – radical anti-Israel groups. These groups were then able to carry out their antisemitic protests that overran college campuses for more than a week. At the end of the day, some of Biden’s biggest donors are celebrating Hamas’ horrific evil committed against Jews on October 7 and the recent antisemitic violence on college campuses across America. This makes you think twice about Biden’s press conference last week, where he spoke out against the protesters. Another shocking element of the college protests is the extensive training that the pro-Hamas protesters received. For example, before the Columbia University protests started (according to a Wall Street Journal report), several protest leaders met with Black Panthers and the National Students for Justice in Palestine to learn how to conduct college protests effectively. One pro-Hamas graduate student at Columbia detailed a “teach-in” session hosted by the Black Panthers: “We took notes from our elders, engaged in dialogue with them and analyzed how the university responded to previous protests.” The Wall Street Journal also reported on a virtual Resistance 101 training session (put on by students after Columbia University officials banned the on-site training), where the guest speaker from the Samidoun: Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network taught: “There is nothing wrong with being a member of Hamas, being a leader of Hamas, being a fighter in Hamas. . . . These are the people that are on the front lines defending Palestine.” Even though the school administrators tried to ban the pro-Hamas training, they still showed discernible weakness amid this controversy. They knew an organization that supported a known terrorist group was training students. Columbia should have controlled the situation and proactively prevented any further escalation. Also, keep in mind that prominent donors like Soros contribute to the universities as well, so they could try to hold the universities hostage by threatening to withdraw donations if they stop the protests. Who will the school officials listen to? The donors who want to stop the antisemitic violence or the donors who want a perpetual revolution in America? The ACLJ is taking a stand against the pro-Hamas college protests. The ACLJ’s legal team is sending a demand letter to the Department of Education and the overrun colleges, reminding them of their legal obligation to protect Jewish and Zionist students (including Christian students who support Israel) and stop violent protests. With the 2024 presidential election only six months away, a new Pew Research Center study shows growing support for former President Trump over President Biden among Christians, particularly among Hispanic Catholics. The Hispanic Catholics comprise a significant voting bloc (40% of the U.S. Catholic population) that is shifting away from Biden. In 2020, 67% of Hispanic Catholic voters preferred Biden. Now only 40% of Hispanic Catholics plan to vote for Biden – a massive decline in popularity among these voters. What’s caused this steep decline? Don’t forget that President Biden, a Catholic, was somewhat of a moderate – even a pro-life Democrat – for most of his political career. Yet over the last four years, Biden has taken radically pro-abortion stances to satisfy the far- Left base. Thus, the declining support in the Hispanic Catholics poll is very troubling for President Biden. What about other Christian voters in America? President Trump has 84% support among evangelicals who attend church regularly. Among Protestant voters who attend church occasionally, 60% say they back Trump, and 38% favor Biden. We explained that Title VII clearly establishes that it is illegal for an employer to discriminate against employees based on their religion.
